Kicking off the Arnold Sports Expo 2018 with Midway Labs USA

Some of the biggest names in the bodybuilding world descended on Columbus, Ohio earlier this month for the 2018 Arnold Sports Festival. The festival kicked into high gear on Friday with the opening of the Arnold Fitness Expo along with a number of headlining competitions, including the finals of the Arnold Classic 212, Figure International, and Fitness International.

On Friday, Midway Labs USA Vice President Catherine Colle spoke with ASF TV about the 2018 Arnold Sports Festival, along with Midway Labs' 10 years of involvement with the Arnold Sports Festival in both South America and the United States:

Midway Labs will be the Main Sponsor of the Arnold Sports Festival USA and South America for the next three years

In addition to the great video with ASF TV, Friday was an exciting day at the Midway Labs USA booth, with meet and greet sessions and autograph signings with Bella Falconi, Marcos Mion, Alice Matos, Felipe Franco, Keo Necra, and Fernanda. NPC Bikini Champion Heather Bonamie, aka Bikini Bomb, provided the entertainment, DJing throughout the weekend. With a number of fitness challenges, giveaways, and demonstrations taking place over the course of the day, there was always something to see or do at the Midway Labs booth!

While Friday was jam-packed with athletic games and contests, as well as some non-athletic activities such as chess and body painting, the evening’s awards ceremony was the most exciting part of the day. Midway Labs’ Vice President, Catherine Colle, presented each winner with their award.

The first award of the evening was the Arnold Classic 212, with Kamal Elgargni capturing the championship. RX Muscle declared that a "new star is born" when he won, as he beat out Charles Dixon (second place), Samir Troudi (third place), David Henry (fourth place), Jose Raymond (fifth place) and Guy Cisternino Jr.

Elgargni wasn’t the only one to stand out winner on Friday night, as Whitney Jones captured the title in the Fitness International competition against a loaded field. She achieved this despite having undergone surgery to fuse two of her vertebrate together several months prior. She beat out Kate Errington (second place), Bethany Wagner (third place), Regiane Da Silva (fourth place), Ariel Khadr (fifth place) and Derina Wilson (sixth place) to take home the coveted title.

Elsewhere, Breon Ansley made history as the winner of the first-ever Classic Physique Arnold Competition, with Shanique Grant taking home the victory in the Women’s Physique.

Other notable winners include Candice Lewis-Carter (Figure International), as well as Hafthor Bjornsson—known by many as The Mountain on HBO's hit show Game of Thrones—whom won the bag-over-bar throw and finished in third place in the stone shoulder as part of the Strongman Classic competition.

While Friday featured many of memorable moments, there were still plenty more to come throughout the rest of the weekend!
